Case Study
SFL Website and COS Portal
A public site and an authenticated customer portal, designed as one connected system instead of two products that happened to share a logo.
02The Brief
The public website and the logged-in customer portal needed to function as one connected system, not two disconnected builds.
Shriram Transport Finance and Shriram City Union Finance merged to form Shriram Finance in December 2022, announced a year earlier, creating India's largest retail NBFC with ₹1,71,000 crore of AUM and over 6.7 million customers at the time of the merger. It has roughly doubled since: ₹3,02,274 crore of AUM as of March 2026, about US$31.6 billion at 95.75 rupees to the dollar on 19 August 2026.Merger announcement, December 2022 (opens in a new tab)Q4 FY26 results, April 2026 (opens in a new tab)USD/INR at 95.75, 19 August 2026 (opens in a new tab)
03The Move
Designed the COS customer portal from scratch, the app's desktop counterpart, covering loan management, statements and bill payments, state-synced with the mobile app. Two products of real size, built the conventional way by engineering, product and data teams working together. My seat was product design, UI and UX, and it grew into leading the design side of both.
04The Outcome
- ReducedBranch dependency for routine servicing
- RedeployedStaff, rather than cut
- UnifiedPublic site and authenticated portal
